Free tool · French company search

How many prospects in your area?

Describe a trade or type a NAF code, pick a département and a size. The tool reads the official French company register and tells you how many active companies match, with ten of them.

Reads the public French company register (api.gouv.fr). Nothing is stored.

01What it does

The official register, queried the way Mailbase queries it.

The French register lists every company registered in France with its main activity, address and headcount band. It is the most complete starting point for a list of French prospects.

Trade

Words, not codes

“plumber” or “plombier” is turned into NAF activity codes by the same matcher Mailbase uses. If you know the code, type it, e.g. 43.22A.

Area

One département or all of France

As in the register, a company counts as soon as one of its establishments is in the département: its head office or a branch. The examples then show the establishment in that département.

Size

INSEE headcount bands

The register classes companies by band, not exact headcount: “1–9 employees” is bands 01 to 03. Companies with no declared employees are a separate class.

Examples

Ten companies, no contact data

Name, town, size and creation date, in the register's own order. The register holds no email or phone, and companies that opted out of publication are never shown.

02Questions

What people ask.

Where do the numbers come from?
From the French State's company search API (recherche-entreprises.api.gouv.fr), which publishes INSEE's SIRENE data and the national company register. Only active companies are counted, and the numbers move every day.
Why does the count stop at 10,000?
The public API stops counting at 10,000 results per search. Above that the tool shows 10,000+: there are at least that many. Narrow the area or the size to get an exact figure.
Can I download the full list?
Not here: the tool shows the volume and ten examples. In Mailbase the whole list is extracted, deduplicated on SIREN, and each company's email is found on its own website and verified before anything is sent.
Why does my trade map to several NAF codes?
A common trade often spans several declared activities. The tool keeps up to three codes and shows them, so you can see exactly what is counted.
Can this data be used for prospecting?
Yes, for B2B: the register is public, and French rules allow B2B email prospecting when the message concerns the person's job, they are told where their address came from and can easily object. Companies that opted out of publication are excluded.
