Sender domains, Amazon SES and domain warm-up

How Mailbase sends

• Mailbase sends through Amazon SES (Amazon Web Services, region eu-west-1, Ireland).
• The free plan sends from a Mailbase address. From Starter you send from your own verified domain.
• A separate plan is for teams that already run their own Amazon SES account and want Mailbase on top of it; see the pricing page.
• A workspace address can help you try the product, but real campaigns should use a verified sender domain.

Buy or connect a domain

Open Insights, then Domains & health. You can search and buy a domain in the app, or connect one you already own. Prospecting is best run from a separate look-alike domain or a subdomain, so that cold volume never touches the domain your customers write to.

• Growth and above include cheap top-level domains in the plan; other domains are sold with a flat surcharge. On Free and Starter you pay the registrar price shown at checkout.
• A domain bought in the app has its records written for you.
• A domain you connect shows the records to publish at your DNS host.

Verify the domain

• Publish the SPF, DKIM and DMARC records Mailbase shows for the domain. DMARC starts at p=none, which only asks for reports.
• Publish the MX record that brings replies back into the Mailbase inbox.
• Mailbase re-checks the records until they verify, and shows the status in Domains & health.
• Add a sender address using any local part on a verified domain.

Per-domain warm-up

Every domain you send from has its own warm-up, because the domain is what mailbox providers score. A new domain starts at 20 emails a day and moves up one stage a day, through ten stages, only while yesterday's allowance was used and the last seven days of real bounces and complaints stay clean: bounces under 2% and complaints under 0.1%.

It steps back at those lines and pauses at 5% bounces or 0.3% complaints. The people most likely to want the mail go first, each day's volume is spread over ten hours, and a domain idle for a month restarts a few stages back. Mailbase does not seed inboxes or fabricate opens and replies.

Workspace safety

Mailbase lists only domains connected to the current workspace. When adding a sender, the email domain must be a verified domain of that workspace.

If the workspace cannot be resolved, Mailbase fails instead of guessing a workspace or falling back to a first database row.

Domain health

• Domains & health shows verification state and the DNS records still missing.
• Delivery analytics show results by mailbox provider, bounce reasons, and complaint clusters, with machine opens and clicks filtered out.
• You can check any domain, yours or not, with the free domain check at /tools/domain-check.
